Business Centres: The Cornerstones of the Modern Workplace

04/10/2018 2018 Created by Mike Remmert

The modern world of work has become a place of constant change – this is the conclusion reached by the internationally renowned Frankfurt-based think tank ‘Zukunftsinstitut’ in its publication ‘Megatrend New Work’. Numerous experts from Europe, the US and Asia have published their studies and research there, and the findings are clear: to optimise employees’ productivity, creativity and innovative potential, dramatic changes must take place in the design of spaces and working environments.

“We engaged very intensively with concepts such as work design, start-up culture, outsourcing and work-life balance when we were designing our COLLECTION Business Centers,” explains Dr André Helf, CEO of the COLLECTION Group. “These challenges are largely shaped by increasing digitalisation and globalisation. The future of work can be shaped – and those who feel at home in a first-class ambience such as that found in our premises are more motivated and inspired than in old-fashioned, often uninspiring and musty offices.”

Particularly in the start-up scene, the flexibility of short-term tenancy agreements with space sizes tailored to requirements is of great importance. Dr Helf describes his experiences with this important client group for business centres: “Thanks to their interdisciplinary nature and often unorthodox working practices, start-ups are in constant interaction with various resources and knowledge groups, which are deployed in rapid succession. For many of these companies, it is of vital importance that they can make efficient use of their financial resources. They find this opportunity with us as nowhere else.”

Another key point for Dr Helf is the issue of outsourcing: “This is quite simply service economics, which has become indispensable for many of our clients in the pursuit of profit optimisation. Core processes are increasingly being outsourced – they require flexible, needs-based structures in the workplace environment. Thanks to our ongoing dialogue with our clients, we always know what challenges they face and how we need to respond.”

The feel-good factor in the workplace is defined not least by work-life balance. “Our working environments today are characterised by far greater diversity and pace than they were 20 years ago,” explains Dr Helf, “it is important for us to view these innovations as opportunities – with their luxury fittings and functionality, our business centres are inviting places that our clients enjoy visiting and where they can give free rein to their creativity – whilst also saving a great deal of money.”
